Which Division?

JR (U14)

  • Player’s league age 13 (DOB Sept 1, 2004 to April 30, 2005) must play JR (U14)
  • Player's league age 14 (DOB Sept 1, 2003 to August 31, 2004) must play JR (U14)
  • Player's league age 12 (DOB May 1, 2005 to August 31, 2006) MAY play JR (U14) 

Players in this division will be learning advance baseball skills-sliding, stealing, leading off, bunting. It is a designed to be a transition to high school baseball. The base paths are 90 feet rather than 60 feet.  The distance from the mound to home plate is 60 feet rather than 46 feet. this is high school distance. 

Rules in this division require a starting player to play six consecutive outs before a substitute can be entered.  All players present must have one at bat and play six consecutive outs on defense unless the game is shortened by weather, darkness or ten run rule.  Only starting players can re-enter the game.  Batting order is not continous. 

This division will inter-league with several other districts and leagues.  Most games will be double headers on Saturdays. At least half will be on our fields.  

 Majors (U12)

  • Player’s league age 12 (DOB May 1, 2005 to August 31, 2006) must play Majors.
  • Player’s league age 11 (DOB September 1, 2006 to August 31, 2007) should play Majors. Some players after evaluation may request Minors.
  • Player’s league age 10 (DOB September 1, 2007 to August 31, 2008) may play either Majors or Minors. Most will be Minors.
  • Player’s league age 9 (DOB September 1, 2008 to August 31, 2009) may playeither  Majors or Minors. Most will be Minors.

Players in this division may play inter-league games with Willapa Harbor, Larch Mountain (Tenino), Elma and Centralia and perhaps other leagues in our district. Some of the games will be away.  Some inter-league games may be double headers on Saturdays in order to minimize travel.

Rules in this division require a starting player to play six consecutive outs before a substitute can be entered. All players present must have one at bat and play six consecutive outs on defense unless the game is shortened by weather, darkness or ten run rule. Only starting players can re-enter the game.  Batting order is not continous. 

This Division has a season ending league championship tournament starting about June 1. 

Minors (U10)

  • Player’s league age 10 (DOB September 1, 2007 to August 31, 2008) may play either Majors or Minors. Most will be Minors.
  • Player’s league age 9 (DOB September 1, 2008 to August 31, 2009) may play Majors or Minors. Most will be Minors.
  • Player’s league age 8 (DOB September 1, 2009 to August 31, 2010) may play Minors or AA (machine pitch). Player evaluation and parent request will determine placement.

Players in this division may play inter-league games with Larch Mountain (Tenino), Centralia and perhaps other leagues in our district. Some of the games will be away. This division cannot play double headers.  

Rules in this division require players to have one at bat and play 6 defensive outs-need not be consecutive-unlimited substitution and a continous batting order is used. 

This Division has a season ending league championship tournament starting about June 1. 

 Machine Pitch (U8)

  • Player’s league age 8 (DOB September 1, 2009 to August 31, 2010) may play Minors or AA (machine pitch). Parents may request evaluation for consideration for Minors but no evaluation is required for this age to play AA.
  • Player’s league age 7 (DOB September 1, 2010 to August 31, 2011) should register in AA (machine pitch). Parents may request evaluation for consideration for Minors but no evaluation is required for this age to play AA.
  • Player’s league age 6 (DOB September 1, 2011 to August 31, 2012) have a choice between AA (machine pitch) and T-Ball. Those who have played team sports previously should probably play AA, but parents can make determination. No evaluations are held for this age.

Players in this division may play inter-league games with Larch Mountain (Tenino) and Chehalis Basin.  All games will be at our complex.  Most games will be Saturdays.  Although there may be a few mid-week games for each team based on whether there is an even number of teams in the division.  There is no mid-season or season ending tournament.  Score is not kept in this division. It is a developmental, learning division.  

Rules in this divsion require a continous batting order with 3 outs per inning.  All players present may play in field on defense. 

T-Ball (U6)

  • Player’s league age 6 (DOB September 1, 2011 to August 31, 2012) have a choice between AA (machine pitch) and T-Ball. Those who have played team sports previously should probably play AA, but parents can make determination. No evaluations are held for this age.
  • Player’s league age 4 & 5 (DOB September 1, 2012 to August 31, 2014) should play T-Ball. Mostly because children this age could be a safety issue playing against AA players up to age 8.  No evaluations are held for this age.

Players in this division may play inter-league games with Larch Mountain (Tenino) and Chehalis Basin.  All games will be at our complex.  Most games will be Saturdays.  Although there may be a few mid-week games for each team based on whether there is an even number of teams in the division.  There is no mid-season or season ending tournament.  Score is not kept in this division. Challenger (Special Needs)

  • Players league age 5 and above (no upper limit)
  • New for 2018 Challenger players may be from any league in the district or adjacent districts IF there is no Challenger program in their league or district. 

Players in this division will have inter-league games with Montesano and perhaps a couple of other leagues-Federal Way.  Games are two to three innings once a week—most are at our complex but a few may be in Montesano or Federal Way.  Score is not kept in this division.  No player evaluations are held for this division regardless of player age.

Rules in this division requie a continous batting order--all players present bat once each inning.  All players present may play in field on defense. 

Player Evaluations:

Players who are League Age 8 and above are eligible for post-season tournament play, but must have a pre-season player evaluation to participate in post season.

All players wishing to play Minors and above MUST have a pre-season player evaluation. 

Parents should enroll their player in the division they think most closely matches the player’s ability. 

IF you have a player who is League Age 8 and want the player considered for Minors Division, the player should sign up for Minors division and have a pre-season player evalaution.

League Age 8 players may play AA and be considered for Tournament of Champion 8-9-10 post season team IF they have a pre-season player evaluation. The player should sign up for AA Machine pitch.  Players who sign up for AA and do not have a player evaluation can not play in post season tournaments. 

IF player evaluation reveals a player should consider moving up or down, the parents will be contacted by a player agent to determine what they would like to do for their child.  In addition, if after practices begin, a manager feels a player needs to be moved to a different division, parents will be contacted by a player agent to discuss options. 

Player evaluations will be used as a basis to assure correct placement in the Minors to JR (U14)  In order to play in Minors and above some basic skills should be demonstrated:

  • Ability to hit a pitched ball with some consistency.
  • Ability to throw a baseball at least 60 feet without short hopping the ball.
  • Ability to safely block and field a hit or thrown ball.
  • Ability to catch a hit or thrown ball, retrieve it from the glove and throw with accuracy.
  • Ability to run bases.
  • Those wanting to pitch will throw some pitches to assess their form and ability/potential.
