Updates on 2022 Baseball

Happy New Year!

We are looking forward to a Spring 2022 season at Capitol Little League.

As you are aware Covid19 continues to be an issue for all of us. How it will impact baseball for 2022, we are not yet sure. However, we are monitoring the requirements (which by the way haven't changed from last Fall as yet). As soon as we have any updates, we will send an email blast with specifics and update the Covid19 policies on the website.

Players sign-ups will close on January 31, 2022 so we can plan for player evaluations on FEB 5 and draft/placement on FEB 12. Do to continuing supply chain issues we want to get uniforms ordered by first week in March to have them by first games on April 11--which is the reason we are a bit earlier than in some past years.

Sign ups for adult volunteers will remain open thru the year as parents decide to help--however, IF you know now you are wanting to manage a team, be an assistant coach or team helper please sign up ASAP so we can be sure you are assigned to your players team. Also team managers will get draft/team placement information and communication about practice/game scheduling.

We do know that we won't be able to hold player evaluations indoors this year and are planning to do an outdoor event at our fields on FEB 5.

T-Ball, AA Machine Pitch and Challenger players DO NOT HAVE PLAYER EVALUATIONS.

The board is meeting next week to determine WHICH players we should evaluate in the kid pitch divisions. Following the meeting, We will be updating parents on which players will need evaluations. Also we will have a preliminary schedule for the player evaluations.

We are working with Spin Tees to have uniform fitting at their location again this year and will do a sign up time for those as we did last year. The current plan is to have time slots on FEB 5 and/or FEB 12--we will finalize that soon. Again we will send an email blast with links to the fitting appointment times.

Parents who have applied to be team managers, coaches or team volunteers are required to have a background check EACH year as are ALL Capitol Little League board members. We will be ordering those this week. IF you have signed up to volunteer you will get an email from Capitol Little League with a link to JDP to complete the online questionnaire for the background check. IF you want to do a paper form which we will then submit to JDP--you can contact [email protected] to start that process. The 2022 volunteer paper form is on the website under forms and documents.

As in 2022, we are not collecting fees until players are drafted or placed on teams--we did this in 2021 as well. You can expect an email from the system about FEB 15 advising you that your player/s have been placed on a team. You will need to accept or reject the placement. IF you reject it, your player will not be placed on a team and you will not be charged fees. IF you accept the placement, you will be prompted to pay in full or select a payment plan which will require payment of 1/2 of the fees then and the rest on March 15.

Folks needing scholarships should be applying NOW for either T-Mobile grants or Dicks Scholarships-the links to the applications are on our website. IF you receive a T-Mobile grant for a player in Minor or above, please email me so I can send you a coupon that covers the entire fee. The T-Mobile grant this year is a pre-paid credit card for $150 which should cover the T-Ball and AA fees. IF you don't qualify for either of these programs, please contact me at [email protected] regarding a scholarship from the league.

Equipment bank with gently used gloves and cleats will be open on the first SAT of practices--normally we would do this at the player evaluation or uniform fitting but we want to keep those groups small at this point. IF you have donations of gently used equipment, please bring to first practice and we will add to the bank.

Dick's Sporting Goods is offering a couple of shop weekends and other opportunities for Capitol Little League--we will send a separate email blast with the dates and link to coupons. The shopping days will give 20% on entire order. The coupon will be a 10% discount at any time. We will also post those on the news site on the main webpage.
