BACKGROUND CHECKS--NEW PROCEDURE FOR 2019

Little League International requires a background check for all volunteers.  NEW BACKGROUND CHECK COMPANY JDP IS REPLACING CONTRACTORS ADVANTAGE--YOU WILL RECEIVE AN EMAIL FROM THEM REQUESTING INFORMATION NEEDED FOR BACKGROUND CHECKS AFTER YOU APPLY WITH THE LEAGUE.

ALL VOLUNTEERS WILL NEED TO SUPPLY JDP WITH THE NEEDED INFORMATION INCLUDING SSN.  JDP WILL FURNISH THE LEAGUE PRESIDENT AND/OR SAFETY OFFICER WITH RESULTS.

CONCUSSION TRAINING REQUIREMENT

Managers/Coaches MUST complete the both an online concussion and sudden cardiac arrest training program.  The online concussion training can be done at either the heads up website, the nfhs website or any other similar website used by youth sports in Washington state.  These courses are free and will provide a printed certificate.

Please printout and provide a copy of the certificate of completion at draft or placement meeting or email to [email protected]

IF you have training certificates from another sport that is still valid (one year from date of course) that will work for us also.

SUDDEN CARDIAC ARREST TRAINING

Washington Law now requires anyone coaching on school property to have completed a sudden cardiac arrest training.  This training is available online for free.  There apparently is a printable certificate showing completion of the course. Please printout and provide a copy of the certificate of completion to your application or email to [email protected]

COACHING RESOURCES

Little League International has a new coaching resource at Little League University--you must register there with an email address which gives you access to training videos and other useful information.

UMPIRING

We are asking managers, coaches and team volunteers to consider umpiring up to 3 games this year in a division other than their own.  This can be in the field (to assist a plate umpire) or behind the plate.  We will offer training/instruction from our Umpire in Chief for those interested.
