2021 Registration Opens Online DEC 1, 2020

We are looking forward to playing baseball at Capitol Little League in 2021.  We were able to play successfully last year within the state and local COVID 19 guidelines.

We had 40 teams with 470 players for our 2020 season of eight weeks.  We are grateful we could provide a baseball program for those players and their families.

Last year our league refunded over $35,000 to players who decided to opt out of baseball due to Covid19 or season timing.  We also provided over $11,000 in partial or full scholarships for players.  We had a net operating loss of just over $9,000.  Due to years of careful management we have sufficient funds to move forward for the 2021 season. We have also been able to do our usual fall maintenance on the fields as well as improvements to the outfield of Field 6 (the big field).

However, much is still outside our control.  We are moving forward with positive plans and making provisions to keep our players, team staff, parents and umpires safe in 2021.  We plan to play baseball for two seasons-Spring and Fall if at all possible.

In order to be flexible with the season and avoid mass refunds this year, we are going to do a “tryout” type registration with NO upfront costs for 2021 for ALL Divisions—there is a more detailed explanation under Players below.

As we get closer to the planned season in April we will be updating our Covid19 guidelines on our website to be in compliance with the state and local rules in place at that time.

Player and Team Manager/Coach/Volunteer registration

Online registration will open December 1, 2020 for players and team managers/coaches/volunteers as well as sponsors and umpires.

Managers, coaches and volunteers—background checks will begin January 1, 2021-however we are asking you sign up ASAP so we have information for  parents about  returning or new team managers.

We anticipate we will have openings for new team managers in most divisions especially in T-Ball and AA Machine Pitch.

Players--because Covid19 still is influencing the timing of our seasons, player evaluations and other events we are going to use a “tryout” registration for Spring 2020 for ALL DIVISIONS—even those which do not require a player evaluation—T-Ball and AA Machine pitch.

Using this type of registration allows parents to sign up players for 2021 season at NO UPFRONT COST.

After the player evaluations and draft/team placement, your player will be activated to a team.

You will receive an email and be asked to accept the team assignment.

When you accept the team assignment, the system will then generate an automatic charge to your credit/debit card on file for BOTH the division fee and a $3 transaction fee.

We are looking at whether a payment plan can be done with ½ due at activation and the other half due before uniforms are ordered.  We understand that option can be added later when we have better information on actual dates as the payment plan set up requires specific dates.

When we determine when our season is going forward with player evaluations, draft and team placement s we will notify parents in advance—IF the planned season is NOT going to work for them OR if they feel that COVID guidelines will not work for their family, parents may then OPT OUT BY MAKING AN EMAIL NOTICE TO OUR REGISTRAR.  AT THAT POINT, REGISTRATION WILL BE CANCELLED FOR THE PLAYER WITHOUT COST.

REFUND POLICY-AFTER being assigned to team-Full Refunds less a $15 processing fee will be processed up to the date uniforms are ordered.  IF withdrawal occurs AFTER uniforms are ordered an additional $60 will be charged to cover uniform costs.

Fees  & Divisions for 2021
Fees increased for all Divisions for 2021—we believe Capitol Little League provides a great experience for players, a full uniform with a personalized jersey (not T-shirts) for ALL divisions and more game opportunities than most other leagues.

The Board decided we should offer only JR (14) division this year so U13 players have an opportunity to stay in same division for 2 years. We can reduce travel for our league by having more teams in one division. This also prepares our players to be competitive in high school as the JR Division is the same distances and rules as “regular baseball.”

T-Ball (U6) $140 (full uniform provided—hat, personalized jersey, pants and sox)

AA (U8) $160 (full uniform provided-hat, personalized jersey, pants and sox)

Minor (U10), Major (U12) or JR (U14) $220 (full uniform provided, hat, personalized jersey, pants and belt)

Challenger (5 and above) will remain free.  (New players will receive a hat, personalized jersey, belt and sox.  Returning players will have uniform pieces replaced as needed.)

Family discounts will still be available--$10 for each child starting with 2nd child.

Scholarship codes will still be available and need to be applied when you sign up for the “tryout” registration.  You can ask for a scholarship via text to cell 360-250-5083 or email to [email protected].   We do ask folks to pay the cost of uniform for their player/s if at all possible as that is the one out of pocket cost specific to the player.

Information on registration form for parents/volunteers
Little League uses age as of August 31, 2021 for purposes of determining divisions.  The 2021 age chart is at this link

Proof of residency/school enrollmentPlayers who live in the Olympia, North Thurston, Tumwater or Griffin school districts OR attend schools in those districts (public or private) are within the boundaries of Capitol Little League.    You may be asked to upload proof of residency or school enrollment—at this time that is NOT mandatory.

This is basically used for post season play for Minor and above divisions.  Proof of residency requirement is listed on the website and must be for the dates between FEB 1, 2020 and FEB 1, 2021. A school enrollment form can be done ONCE and substitutes for proof of residency as long as player is enrolled in SAME school.

Players living or attending school OUTSIDE our boundaries MAY need a waiver—there are several types depending on circumstances and we will work with parents to be sure we submit the needed paperwork in a timely manner.  We will contact you IF a waiver is needed for your player.

Property players/team manager/other player or special requests

For many years, we have used a “property player” designation for returning players on the same team, however due to Covid19 many teams ended up being combined—we are working with Little League to determine how “property players” will be designated for 2021.

IF you want your player released from a specific team manager/coach you should make that request in the “special request” area of the registration form.

Parents may still request placement with specific coaches/players or with school mates on the registration form.  We will make every effort to honor those requests for all Divisions.  We have found most requests can be accommodated or worked out.

Uniform fitting—
We will be working on a uniform fitting process that will comply with whatever COVID19 guidelines are in place in March and April.    Please do put your best size estimates on your player registration form as it is a required field/s.   Hats for T-Ball and AA are adjustable—youth or adult.  Hats for Minors and above are flex fit.   WE will announce uniform fitting opportunities as we get closer to season via email blast, Facebook and our webpage.

Team Sponsorship registration will be open December 1, 2020--our fees have not changed for 2021--$250 for new sponsor (we provide banner); $150 for new sponsor (own banner provided); $100 to renew.  ADD $200 for sponsor logo on sleeve of ONE team’s jersey Spring OR Fall Season.

WE appreciate ALL our returning sponsors and are looking to add new ones to help support our scholarship and field improvement programs.

Umpire registration will open December 1, 2020—we urge umpires to sign up here so we can run the background checks required by Little League for this volunteer program.  Little League is offering some online training this year.  We ask you also sign up for the Umpire Registry on the Little League site to get information year round virtual training and updates to rules etc.  https://www.littleleague.org/university/umpires/   and https://www.littleleague.org/umpires/umpire-registry/
