LEAGUE AGE is your player’s age per the Little League Age Charts-- see League age chart for Baseball and League age Chart for Softball
—please keep that in mind when determining your player’s slot in the evaluation schedule.
Players should wear comfortable clothing and TENNIS SHOES (we are in a gym). IF you have a batting helmet, bat and glove players can bring their own. IF not, we will have some equipment available for players to use during evaluation. More information below.

PLAYER EVALUATION is required for kid pitch division players to participate in post season tournaments unless the player is a returning 2025 Spring property kid pitch division player returning to their same team for 2026(see property player below).
We do not have “tryouts”—every player will be placed/drafted on a Spring 2026 team at Capitol Little League. The evaluation is to determine their readiness to play at the division they requested.
Players will be asked to catch, throw, run, hit and if interested in pitching will be asked to pitch.
Evaluation is done in small groups (hopefully) and takes about ½-45 minutes.
Players should bring a glove and bat/helmet IF they have them—if not we will have them available.
BASEBALLL BATS ONLY USA LOGO BATS are used in Little League Tee Ball to Major; BBCOR bats may be used in Intermediate and JR.
SOFTBALL BATS USSSA or USA logo bats with bpf 1.20 rating are used.
Players should wear comfortable clothing—baseball uniform not required.
NO cleats allowed in gym—wear tennis shoes please.
NOTE: League age 7 players are NOT permitted to play in post season tournaments but may, after player evaluation, play in regular season.
FREE AGENT (REQUIRE a pre-season player evaluation) is any KID PITCH player:
If your player does NOT want to return to their 2025 Spring team, they MUST request a release either on their 2026 signup OR by email to [email protected] . YOUR player is a FREE AGENT and must attend a player evaluation.
· NEW to Capitol Little for Spring 2026
· Asking for a release from their Spring 2025 team
· Who played ONLY Fall 2025 season at Capitol.
· Who skipped a season and didn’t play Spring 2025 at Capitol.
· Who did not move up to the same division as their Spring 2025 team.
o Example: Your player was on 2025 Spring Minor Team Brown and YOUR PLAYER STAYS IN MINOR, Team Brown moves to Majors—YOUR player is a FREE AGENT.
PROPERTY PLAYER (these players do NOT need a pre-season player evaluation) is any player:
· Returning to their SAME Spring 2025 kid pitch team regardless of division as long as BOTH the team and the player are in the SAME 2026 kid pitch division.
Examples:
o Your player was on 2025 Spring Minor Team Brown AND BOTH your player and the team stay in Minors-your player is a property player for Team Brown for Spring 2026.
o Your player was on 2025 Spring Minor Team Brown AND BOTH your player and team move up to Majors for Spring 2026—your player is a property player for Team Brown Majors for Spring 2026.
AA Machine Pitch moving to Kid Pitch Minors (REQUIRE a Player Evaluation)
2025 Spring AA Machine Pitch players moving to 2026 Kid Pitch Minors must have a player evaluation to be eligible for post season tournaments regardless of whether they are property players or not.
· 2025 Spring AA Machine Pitch players moving to 2026 Kid Pitch Minor team have property rights to the SAME team IF the team is moving to Kid Pitch Division as well.
· 2025 Spring AA Machine Pitch players moving to 2026 Kid Pitch Minor WITHOUT their 2025 team are FREE AGENTS.
